Adoption Application
The steps for our out-of-state adoptions include:
1) Complete the Adoption Application.
2) Provide reference checks (veterinary and personal) to include background and criminal checks; renters must provide a letter from the landlord authorizing the presence of a pet.
3) Submit photos of your home (living area, kitchen, yard, and front of the home). If your residence is an apartment, we require photos of the front of your building. We can connect you with the Texas foster family caring for the animal in which you are interested after your application is approved. At that time, you can ask any questions you may have – some even will do a “meet and greet” through Skype or Facetime.
4) Contract is decided upon. After approval, adoption fee/transport fee must be paid (the signed contract will occur at this point). In addition, proof of paid pet deposit with landlord is required of renters.
5) Transport information is provided. Closer to the time of transport, we will provide you with the transporter's name and contact information. Our rescue directors will keep in contact with you through the transport. Pick up locations and times will be addressed during transport based on weather, traffic, and other factors. Until transport occurs, rescue directors will still be your point of contact.
